Yesterday's reading of "from The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair led to discussions about the types of canned meat that are still sold today. Kayden, a junior, brought in a whole canned chicken for everyone to see. Imagine purchasing that without federal food safety laws!
The National Weather Service guidelines indicate that it is safe for our children to enjoy outside recess at a wind chill temperature of 0 degrees. We will take the children outside when it is 10 degrees or above (wind chill) with weather factors such as sunlight, wind, and dampness factored in. Please make sure children have appropriate dress – winter coats, protective footwear, snow pants, gloves, and hats.
General guidelines are as follow:
Below 60 degrees = jacket or long sleeves
Below 50 degrees = coat and long pants
Below 32 degrees = coat, hat, and gloves
Below 10 degrees = inside recess
